About Us 1.1 Mission & Vision Mission : Producing quality and effective audio and video programmes and to make seamless, effective and sustainable intervention to popularize the distance and open learning among the people of the country particularly among rural and tribal people. To help in providing seamless, effective and sustainable distance and open learning System to the most deprived and weaker section of the society. 1.2 Introduction Distance education, structured learning in which the student and instructor are separated by time and place, is currently the fastest growing form of domestic and international education. What was once considered a special form of education using nontraditional delivery systems, is now becoming an important concept in mainstream education. Due to the rapid development of technology, courses using a variety of media are being delivered to students in various locations in an effort to serve the educational needs of growing populations. Distance education relies heavily on technologies of delivery. Print materials, broadcast radio, broadcast television, computer conferencing, electronic mail, interactive video, satellite telecommunications and multimedia computer technology are all used to promote student-teacher interaction and provide necessary feedback to the learner at a distance. Because technologies as delivery systems have been so crucial to the growth of distance education. Keeping in mind the importance of audio visual media in distance education MPBOU has established its Communication Division in 1998 to serve to the Audio visual needs of the learners of university. In 2003 communication division expanded into a separate centre named as Electronic Media Production & Research Centre. 1.3 Development of EMPRC July, 1998 -Established as Communication Division. December,1999 -Produced first video programme. January, 2000 -Produced first audio programme. June, 2000 -Procurement of Digital Video Recording & Editing equipment. November,2003 - Started two days weekly broadcast of Audio productions,onehour each day from Gyan Vani centre,Bhopal December, 2003 -Communication Division expanded into separate media center as Electronic Media Production & Research Centre ( EMPRC ). May, 2005 -Produced 50th Audio production. july,2006 Started India's first educational on-demand internet Radio " BHOJVANI " January2007 Started four days weekly broadcast of Audio productions, one hour each day from Gyan Vani centre, Bhopal March 2007 -Produced 100th Audio production 1.4 In House Facilities Digital ( DVCAM) Video Recording EMPRC have Sony DVCAM digital video recording facilities with two camera system with out doors lights. Video Editing ( Digital and Beta-CAM A/B roll ) EMPRC have Sony DVCAM digital linear video editing system ( cut to cut) and with Beta cam (digital-analogue )hybrid A/B roll editing system. 2. Audio Visual Production For Academic Programmes of the University: EMPRC has been producing educational audio and video programmes in different subjects according to the need of the courses. 2. AudioVisual Production For the Projects EMPRC has produced video programmes for different projects running by the University, some of them are: A. RCH - Reproductive and Child Health care project funded by Department Health and family welfare, Govt. of Indian. Project was aimed at the skill up-gradation of rural doctors and paramedics of the state of Madhya Pradesh and Chhatisgarh Center also provided all the study centers of the project with the Audio and Video play back and recording Equipment. Center produced Audio and Video programmes for the RCH project. B. Indian History Culture and Civilization Project. This project is funded by distance Education council, New Delhi. We are producing Video and Audio programmes which will be Telecast on Gyan Darshan and GyanVani Educational Broadcast channel. In this project programmes are being prepared with special reference to the history, culture and civilization of Madhya Pradesh. C. Eminent Scholars Lecture Series Project. EMPRC is producing video and audio lecture series of eminent scholars of the country of various fields. So that we could provide opportunity to learner to see and listen the quality lecture of the well known expert in the field. D. Head Start Project EMPRC had providing Audio and Video inputs for the development of self learning interactive multimedia CD for the school students. E. UNESCO PROJECT FOR DEVELOPING IMM CDs FOR TEACHERS TRAINING This project was completed by ICT centre. EMPRC provided audio input for this project. E. UNESCO PROJECT FOR DEVELOPING IMM CDs FOR FUNCTIONAL LITERATE This Project was completed by ICT centre. EMPRC provided audio input for this project . 3.2 Internet radio : Bhojvani The Educational On Demand Internet Radio :Bhojvani EMPRC has started its educational On Demand Internet Radio named Bhojvani from July, 2006. This is first endeavor in the India where internet radio going to be used for educational purpose. In this learner can select, listen and control educational audio programmes as per their choice. This service will be free from time constraints and location constraints. User can access this any time as per his/her convenience from where ever he/she wants there will no restrictions as for as institution, state and country is concern. It can be listen around 50 km area around Bhopal city. EMPRC is producing audio programme for Gyanvani FM Radio station, Bhopal. We have Got slot in the Gayanvani broadcast Schedule.
